In the video “changing education paradigms” Ken Robinson’s message to me was that the education system, educators and instructors should acknowledge and encourage the intellectual creativity that may live inside of a child or student. Rather than treating schools like a factory line and making sure that every student (according to their age) studies math, science and social studies school systems should give students the opportunity to build their own future and give them the chance to make their interests important. Robinson’s message in my opinion is to embrace the livelihood and creativity of each child.

I do agree with Robison’s message because every child is different and every child does not have the same interests even if they are of the same ages.

What I liked most about this talk was the subject on ADHD. I work in a special education school where many children may have ADHD, ADD or any other learning disability and I have seen these children being induced with stimulants and being mismanaged. These children lose their personalities and they have minimal opportunities to be themselves or be creative. Sadly, It’s sort of like they are zombies and Robinson puts this matter into perfect perspective in the video.

In connection to my current observations, I have seen children in the classrooms being easily distracted. When the teacher is teaching in an old fashioned way I have come to notice the children are not too interested (children sit for a long time and he/she lectures in front of a board). It is understandable as to why children get bored and distracted during these lessons because they are not being physically or intellectually active or involved.
